T-Mobile HTC HD7 Review: Part Four (Zune Music and Videos, Maps)
This is part 4 of the review of the HTC HD7 windowsphone from Tmobile. In this fourth and final part I go over in depth the Zune music and video playback and the Maps application. I also wrap it up with my final thoughts and advice. I am sure I made mistakes and probably looked over some things in this review, but I am trying hard to improve with each video. can you download apple ipod songs on this as your music?
@sukkaf00 Somewhat agree..
Is the Phone locked to a specific mobilecompany? I’m from Norway and considering to buy one from Ebay, just wondering if the phone will work with another company, like Telenor or Netcom if you know what that is
Please help! I really want that kickass phone!
@phonefight Tnx man that was quick! Yep, I do have an album art.. ol of em basically. I dont even have the Marketplace inside the Music program either. I live in Singapore btw, dont u think it has sumthin to do with my location? and that the Zune Mrktplace is not available here? Didnt do any research with that Im sorry..
@bedbugtrippin Ok i need to know two things. Is it all songs that do that and do you have album art? I didn’t do anything special. Just loaded my songs through Zune and everything worked. One thing I did notice is that songs that were taken off of a compliation cd (like a soundtrack or NOW cd) the background stayed black. Let me know so I can help you figure it out.
Hey, thnx for putting up this video! I need a lil help here if u dont mind. I got my HD7 for a week now & I’m wondrin why my phone doesnt show a background picture (like a wallpaper thingy underneath the cover art) while I’m playin a song just like yours. Did you do anything with that in particular? I’d like to have that too and i thot it’s absolutely kickass. Mine is just a plain black background so i thot its a tad bit boring?! other than that, interface is buttery smooth and awesome! Pls help
Oh yeah I forgot… I might be buying this phone today. MY BIG CONCERN is this: How is twitter on this phone? Can we receive notifications? or what? I mean is the twitter client(s) worthy? Thx
No drag and drop is a deal breaker…. sigh.
I NEED THIS PHONE NOW.
Good review as well
How’s the battery life? I heard it doesn’t last as long as people might want it to.
@Tyler3594 You need to have Zune software installed on your computer. Your music can come from anywhere, but to load it onto the HD7 it needs to go through the Zune library. It doesnt cost extra and the Zune software is a free download from Microsoft. It’s pretty much the same as iTunes.
i dont understand how 2 download music, you need to upload the whole zune software? does that take any money? can i use limewire instead?
is there another windows phone that is coming out??????
do you need internet for the maps app?
You my friend know how to make great reviews.
I have a question for you and everyone reading this. Should I get this phone. I currently have an iphone 3gs running on T-mobile. I gotta say I love my phone, however, I don’t get 3G network and EDGE is killing me. I wan’t to get this phone but I would have to pay full retail price since my plan doesn’t allow upgrades and even on ebay and craigs list they are expensive. Just let me know what I should do! Thanks
I have the AT&T HTC surround 7, I don’t know that that makes a difference at all. My problem is that I can’t get videos I recorded with it onto my computer or upload it from the phone itself. Do you have any idea how to get it a video computer?
Phonefight…. 2 questions… 1. Do you know if AT&T will have this HD7 in their lineup? and 2. How long do you think before the ROM gets updated by HTC to fix the small bugs you have pointed out in your videos? Thanks!
@adebad1 You have to have Zune software on you computer. When you open the zune software it should contain all your music. If it doesn’t, go to settings and add folder. The computer won’t let you do anything without the Zune desktop software. If you need help or anymore questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks.
hi, how does WP7 SYC with deskstop ‘Window Media Player’ so that you can copy your music to your phone?
I dream on having HD8 with windows phone 8!
excellent review man (all 4 combined), very thorough and you covered every aspect i can think of. htc can thank you for making my decision to purchase this phone…once i gather the money. keep up the good work, here’s hoping you can keep snatching up cell phones and dishing out intricate reviews like these.
i have this phone and im so disappointed to find out it has no IM feature..omg! what was windows thinking..do thing they will ..at some point bring it to the hd7
I am really starting to like this phone over G2 now after these reviews. I am gonna buy a new phone so G2 and hd7 are my current choices.
But i still like G2. Before this review, it was like 90% to G2 and 10% to hd7 but after watching your great reviews, htc hd7 70% G2 30%
Any recommendations?
Thanx for the prompt response…lol, I’m torn between the htc hd7 and the dell venue pro. I definitely subscribed! Checked out all your vids, informative and realistic.:)
@xmailakax The Speaker on the HD7 play music very loud. At full volume the sound is clear and crisp. Hard to believe how loud the sound is with such a small speaker. About downloads, I downloaded a song from the Zune market directly through the phone. The song (radioactive) cost $1.29 and downloaded in less than a minute (over WiFi.) I will be getting the Dell Venue within the next few days. I will do a Phonefight of the two phones very soon. I hope this helped and thanks for watching!
