Google Maps on Nokia N900

the mobile site of Google Maps looks like a good solution until Google decides to release a native app for Maemo and the Nokia N900. Posted on thenokiablog.com

Of course you can do this, thanks man. But big concern should be how to sync with the GPS.

@AndrewNWA depends on your needs, i personally find the n900 is not up to par with other phone features, but it excels in other areas.

This is interesting, but will it work as an in-car GPS, updating my location as I drive around?

yes t does support click and location. i just added the location widget to my desktop. its usually off to save power. remember you can use the built in gps or network gps. gps for life for free even without service.

I’m thinking of upgrading from the blackberry 8900 to the N900 but google maps is something I use all the time. On the blackberry I can press “0″ and the map will instantly zoom into my exact location - I’m not sure if the N900 supports this function or not.

Id say this video is pretty disingenuous. Its useless as you cant currently zoom out!

@JanisonTV Oh I LOVE my n900. I could’ve used turn by turn when I was in Los Angeles this passed weekend for sure, but Google Maps was just fine. I’m sure true turn by turn GPS is soon to come. I’m slowly convincing my iPhone buddies to make the switch. Heh Heh Heh.

AndrweNWA N900 is way cooler than n97, infact you cannot compare the two, as n900 is a mobile computer, more than a cellphone.

@Uprock415 You should give the N900 a break, it’s a new device with a new operating system, there will be turn by turn gps, it’s just a matter of time :D

Love it. I use using the full site instead of the mobile site for directions. This is way faster. The only thing that the N900 needs now is a full turn by turn GPS, but for now this will do. Thanks for the vid!
